Product Description
Coal River Valley Chardonnay with quiet precision and depth. The 2024 release from winemaker Samantha Connew balances fruit generosity with a fine saline edge, reflecting both her meticulous craft and the strength of the vintage. Fruit is sourced from the Coal River Valley, including Connew’s south-facing Chardonnay block planted in 2017, as well as trusted growers in the Upper Derwent and Richmond.
Hand-picked fruit was whole-bunch pressed and wild fermented in French oak puncheons, 20% new, with full malolactic fermentation but no lees stirring. The wine then spent eight months in barrel before settling in tank and bottling. The result is a Chardonnay that layers stone fruit and citrus brightness with subtle oak complexity, finishing long and mineral.
