While this has the exuberance of youth, it is also a composed and classy cabernet. A harmonious blend of mulberries and plums, cedary oak, cigar box and a touch of iodine. The palate is detailed from the ultrafine tannins, the brightness of the acidity to its impressive length. Elegance in a glass.
Deep, bright red/purple colour. The bouquet is rich and concentrated with a trace of eucalyptus or menthol overlying deep-set dark-berry and herb aromas, the oak neatly harmonised. The palate is firm and solidly structured, with real concentration and length. A powerful, deep, dense cabernet that needs time and will be in for the long-haul. (The second release of straight cabernet off the 1999 plantings).
