Product Description:
An assured new chapter for Yabby Lake begins in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Known for shaping benchmark Pinot Noir on the Mornington Peninsula, the estate has now turned its attention south, with a single-vineyard site in one of Australia’s most promising cool-climate regions. The 2024 Coal River Pinot Noir is the second release from this vineyard, capturing the finesse and precision that first put Yabby Lake on the map.
The vintage was marked by a long, dry season with mild conditions at harvest, allowing fruit to achieve balance and concentration without losing freshness. Hand-picked in March and crafted with a light touch of whole bunch fermentation, the wine was matured in French oak puncheons, with restrained new oak giving space for the fruit to speak. This is a poised, cellar-worthy Pinot Noir that reflects both the site’s potential and Tom Carson’s steady hand.
