Old vine Barossa Shiraz, with edge and elegance in equal measure. The Standish Shiraz 2015 is a commanding wine from one of the Barossa’s most singular voices. Dan Standish crafts his wines from ancient, low-yielding parcels—this cuvée sourced from the sandy flints of Vine Vale. Fermented in small oak vats and matured parcel by parcel, only the finest barrels make the final cut. The result? A dense, finely structured Shiraz that speaks as much of restraint as it does of power.

This 2015 vintage delivers a dark, tightly coiled expression. Coal dust, blackcurrant and truffle aromas give way to roasted meats, blood broth and subtle soil tones. The palate is immensely concentrated, with a savoury undertow and fine silken tannins that stretch its length and promise longevity. It’s a wine that doesn’t rush to reveal itself—better to cellar it, or give it time in the glass.

Serious Barossa for collectors, but with a texture and tone that transcends regional stereotypes.

      The Standish

Founded in 1999 by sixth-generation Barossan Dan Standish, The Standish Wine Company is a small-batch producer with serious intent. After refining his craft at Torbreck and in the vineyards of the Rhône, Rioja and Sonoma, Dan returned to South Australia to focus on site-driven Shiraz from Eden and Barossa Valleys.

Each vineyard parcel is fermented separately, and up to 80% of the blend may be discarded—only the most compelling barrels make the final cut. It’s a fiercely selective approach that delivers wines of both clarity and depth, intensity and finesse.

Alongside Dan, Nicole Standish drives the technical and viticultural precision that underpins the brand. Together they favour whole-bunch ferments, wild yeasts, natural cork, and extended élevage in French oak (18–22 months). These choices shape Lamella into a distinctive expression of site: structured, aromatic, and built to age.
