Talisker Skye was introduced in early 2015 paying tribute to the rich varied landscape of Isle of Skye – from soft, serene shores to the dark, jagged peaks of the Cuillin mountains. Talisker Skye brings with it a well-rounded and sweet flavour profile packed with fresh citrus, sweet smoke, peppery spice and traditional Talisker maritime notes. It's matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks, with a slightly higher proportion of toasted casks.

Bright 18 carat gold with polished copper lights. Starts gently with the glorious citrus-sweetness of fresh oranges. A touch of water tames the spice and smoke, but the aroma remains maritime. Medium yet softly textured. Soft and sweet at first with very light smoke. Long and warming, yet also fresh, with a big, peppery finale and a late trace of sweet smoke. Best served in a Talisker Rocks Glass, neat or with a little water.

    Trusted by the professionals

Gorgeously salivating with concentrated, sharp barley; the peat is now more muffled and then vanishes under the toffee. Has some sublime moments on the nose and delivery but eventually vanishes under the weight of the unforgiving caramel.

    — Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2024

...The latest release from Talisker is an NAS bottling which contains whisky matured in toasted and refill American oak casks. According to the distiller, this is “An easy-drinking Talisker…more approachable, but still definitely Talisker.” Certainly approachable on the nose, with tangerines, honey, and milk chocolate, before ozone and peat smoke develop. Ginger and a hint of coal tar. Medium-bodied, with citrus fruit and increasingly hot spices, though never overwhelming. Spicy peat, white pepper, and aniseed in a nutty finish.

    Talisker

On the shores of the Isle of Skye, where rugged coastlines meet the raging sea, you find adventure in a bottle. Talisker single malt scotch whisky captures the elemental wildness and unadulterated beauty of its birthplace to give you a taste of Skye. Looking out over the breathtaking scenery of the Cuillin Hills, Talisker Distillery stands proudly by the sea on the shores of Loch Carport. As the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye by almost 200 years, Talisker have been an integral part of island life and history since 1830. In 1825, the MacAskill brothers arrived on Skye from the nearby smaller Scottish island of Eigg. After several false starts, in 1830 they opened Talisker distillery at Carbost, where it remained the only distillery on the island for nearly two centuries. Through upheaval, changes of ownership, and even a fire, Talisker has always kept Skye at the heart of the brand—and the whisky.

As a whisky made by the sea, Talisker shares a deep love for the beauty and fragility of the oceans and is proudly committed to protecting the ocean ecosystem for the next generation of wild spirits. Produced beside the shore of Lock Harport in the jagged shadow of the peaks of The Cuillin. Even today Talisker is the only single malt scotch whisky made on the Isle of Skye. Every sip is a taste of the Isle of Skye itself, one of the most remote, windswept yet beautiful landscapes in Scotland.

    Tasting notes

    NOSE
Toffees and Cream, Restrained Smoke, Driftwood and Sea Spray

The first glorious citrus sweetness of fresh oranges develops into soft mango. Maritime air with seaweed, driftwood, and salt continue under.

    PALATE
    Honeyed, Woody, Fennel

Medium-bodied and softly textured. Gentle and sweet at first, coating and tongue tingling, with light smoke. Quickly becomes more pungent and savoury with a hot spiciness.

    FINISH
    Dry, Savoury, Spice and Smoke

Drier and of medium-length, with a lasting, smooth aftertaste, in which light peaty burnt embers can be found.
