Ferocious winds and resulted in limited quantities. The plus is that the quality, concentrated and beautifully structured. The 2023 Stefano Lubiana Primavera Pinot Noir is soft red wine with natural medium body that has wonderful drinkability.
The 2023 Primavera Pinot Noir is alive with lifted aromas, a combination of ripe raspberries, strawberries, brambly mulberries and toasted cedar. I has a generous weight to it, raspberry and strawberry bonbon like flavours but these elements are kept in balance by the juicy acid and firm tannin, of which both are in good supply offering excellent structure. Enjoy now but know the concentrated palate will relax with time, this wine will reward you with cellaring and can be put down for 5+ years.
Two of their vineyards contribute the fruit to our 2023 Primavera Pinot Noir. Majority of the fruit is yielded from our biodynamic vineyard in Granton located in the Derwent Valley. The other small portion of fruit is sourced from our Cradoc vineyard, in the heart of the Huon Valley. The Spring was cool however at the start of summer we were met with ferocious winds which resulted in poor flowering, ultimately resulting in lower yields in the vineyard. The following months were cooler and the vintage was delayed until late March 2023. Although yields were down, diligent and tireless work in the vineyard translated that this years grapes were excellent quality with a high concentration of flavour.
For winemaking the Primavera Pinot Noir is mostly wild fermented, de-stemmed and taken off skins early to retain lots of fruit flavour. The grapes are hand picked, hand sorted and fermented with own yeasts and some whole bunches. Basket pressed after about 3 weeks.
