St Hugo is a story of legacy and reinvention, their team honour the traditions of winemaking legend Hugo Gramp. Grandson of pioneering vigneron Johann Gramp and founder of Gramp & Sons winery in 1847. Bringing his historical vision of not only the brand but the Barossa into the modern world.
St Hugo pays tribute to its namesake Hugo, and each vintage they make is in celebration of his love of the land he grew up on, from their first vintage in 1980. The St Hugo wines showcase deep respect for the grapes grown on our sites by turning them into wines with structure, power and elegance. The wines are crafted to be part of your celebrations with loved ones all over the world – from our vineyards to your table.
A supple and beguiling single vineyard wine reflecting all that is great about Shiraz inform the ancient Barossa soils of the Ebenezer region.
St Hugo Vetus Purum Shiraz is a very deep purple with bright hues. The nose offers mocha, liquorice and raspberry in perfect balance. Intense and fleshy with a combination of dark berry fruits and a brightness of flavour. Ebenezer is renowned for the balance it maintains whilst also producing full flavoured and structured wines. The oak maturation supports the wine with spice and sweet tannin and has also allowed it to soften and open up.
The 2013 vintage pairs well with eye-fillet of beef wrapped in prosciutto with a porcini farce, served with well-roasted bone marrow. Enjoy now or cellar until 2036.
