A refined expression of cool-climate Australian Pinot Noir. Shaw + Smith Pinot Noir 2024 captures the clarity and tension of the Adelaide Hills through precise vineyard work and restrained winemaking. Sourced primarily from the Lenswood and Balhannah vineyards, it reflects the region’s elevated slopes and long, temperate growing season. The result is a wine of lifted fragrance, purity of fruit, and supple structure, an assured continuation of the estate’s benchmark style first established in 2007.

The 2024 vintage delivers fine-boned tannins, vibrant red fruit, and a lingering sense of balance. Hand-picked fruit, small-batch fermentations, and gentle French oak maturation bring definition without excess. This Pinot Noir shows the quiet power of the Hills: bright, aromatic, and structured for short- to mid-term cellaring, ideal alongside duck, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses.

      Trusted by the professionals

Medium red-purple colour, bright and youthful. Sweet raspberry, red cherry and floral aromatics, good intensity and a solid backing of firm but measured tannins supplying backbone and adding to length. A pretty serious Pinot Noir, with impact and persistence, that would reward a little extra time in bottle.

      Shaw + Smith

Shaw + Smith was founded in 1989 by cousins Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw, with a focus on producing wines that reflect the cooler climate of the Adelaide Hills. They specialise in varieties that thrive in the region, including Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Shiraz. The winery owns three vineyards located in Lenswood, Piccadilly, and Balhannah, each carefully managed to yield the best possible fruit.

With a commitment to sustainability, Shaw + Smith emphasises vine and soil health while maintaining low yields. This hands-on approach, along with state-of-the-art facilities at their Balhannah winery, ensures complete control over the winemaking process, allowing the team to capture vibrant, modern expressions of their varieties and terroir.

Since their first vintage in 1990, Shaw + Smith has grown into one of Australia’s most respected wineries. Their investment in a state-of-the-art winery and tasting room, completed in 2000, has allowed them to continue raising the bar in quality and innovation.
