Product Description:
Richness, complexity and Barossa tradition define this iconic sparkling red from one of Australia's most celebrated family-owned wineries. Rockford Black Sparkling Shiraz – Disgorged 2025 is crafted using a unique multi-vintage solera system based on the winery’s renowned Basket Press Shiraz, a method that has become synonymous with this highly sought-after release. The wine undergoes extended maturation before secondary fermentation in bottle, allowing remarkable depth, integration and complexity to develop over time. Produced in limited quantities and traditionally released annually, each disgorgement reflects both the character of the current release and the accumulated complexity of older reserve wines.
The 2025 disgorgement showcases the hallmark richness and concentration for which Black Shiraz is renowned, while maintaining freshness and refinement through its fine bead and vibrant structure. Aromatically expressive, it reveals layers of dark berries, plum, licorice, mocha and savoury spice. The palate is generous and velvety, combining opulent fruit weight with lively acidity and persistent mousse. Despite its richness, the wine remains balanced and poised, finishing with remarkable length and complexity. A true Australian classic, it is equally at home alongside festive fare, slow-cooked meats or enjoyed on its own as a contemplative sparkling red.

Reviews & Accolades
I’ll never forget a Sparkling Shiraz I found in my father’s cellar at Seppelt’s Barooga vineyard when I was a kid – I can taste it now. Many years later, when I worked at Seppelt’s Rutherglen, I met Colin Preece, the master responsible for the great old wines. Ever since, I’ve wanted to make a wine of my own that reflected his attitude and technique. This is it: Black Shiraz matured in seasoned oak, revitalised by bottle fermentation, left on lees before disgorgement and liqueuring, and then put straight back into the cellar. You’d be doing us both a favour if you left it there a bit longer so it can really show its best. But watch your kids. - Robert O'Callaghan, Winemaker
