Product Description:
High-altitude freshness, compact structure and refined tension define the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc “Au Bout du Monde” 2024. Produced entirely from Chardonnay, the wine comes from the En Creuzilly lieu-dit in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, where the vineyard sits at approximately 420 metres above sea level. The site lies in the direction of Nolay and contains a significant proportion of clay within its elevated hillside soils. Pierre-Yves Colin acquired the vineyard in 2014, with the first vintage of the cuvée produced in 2015. The parcel forms part of an eight-hectare property shared with Domaine Etienne Sauzet and is situated approximately six kilometres from Colin-Morey’s domaine. Because of the vineyard’s altitude and cool conditions, its grapes are generally harvested around one week later than those grown near Chassagne-Montrachet.
The challenging 2024 season reduced the crop considerably, with approximately 70% of the potential yield lost to frost at this site. Despite the limited production, the resulting wine displays freshness, depth and a finely constructed profile. Its colour carries a distinct lime-green tint, while the aromatics combine mild reduction with fresh fruit and lime-blossom character. The palate is more compact than the producer’s regular Bourgogne Blanc, delivering notable tension rather than overt richness or weight. Ample underlying depth supports the wine’s fine structure, and its persistent profile suggests greater length than the regional Bourgogne cuvée. Although youthful and tightly composed, it should become more expressive with bottle development and is recommended for drinking from 2027 to 2029.
