Philip Shaw The Wire Walker Pinot Noir 2024

Philip Shaw is to Orange what Brokenwood are to the Hunter Valley or Penfolds are to South Australia. The first big name to plant their flag in the Orange region, Philip Shaw Wines are very much the benchmark for quality and new varieties in the region. Pinot Noir is still a relatively new variety for the Orange region, but it is showing excellent promise in this cool, mountainous, continental climate.

The Wire walker is garnet red in colour. Dark berry fruits dominate the aroma and carry though onto the palate. A plush palate with depth of fruit and savoury spice. Sumptuous fruit framed by elegant supple tannins.

Harvested in the cool of the night. Hand sorted with whole berry fermentation in open vats. Gentle cap management with plunging and pump overs. Pressed at dryness to 80% older French oak. Maturation on fine lees. Natural malolactic fermentation in spring.
