Petit Cordon Prestige By Maison Mumm NV
Mumm Petit Cordon NV is the delicious result of a lengthy collaboration between New Zealand winemaker Jamie Marfell and Maison Mumm's Che de Caves if Champagne's Didier Mariotti. Growing from New Zealand's famed Marlborough region, this methode traditionnelle sparkling wine was expertly crafted to match the champagnes of France. The final blend of Chardonnay, which brings bright freshness, and Pinot Noir, adding strength and virility, were hand picked in the finest terroirs of Marlborough. Aged on lees for more than 18 months, the complexity and intensity of this sparkling is unmatched.
Steady bubbles on the pour gives way to a very light coloured wine. Sniffing your way through the wine, notes of citrus, grapefruit and blood orange come to the forefront. Tasting of pears, apricot, peach, mirabelle are tasted first, ending with notes notes of honey, pastry and ripe fruits. Very lively, yet nicely balanced acidity. One is rewarded with a nice tension and a long, structured finish.
