Petaluma Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay 2021
Petaluma was founded in 1976 on the simple belief that to make the best wine, you must plant the right grape varieties in the right regions. This is their 'distinguished vineyards' philosophy. Cabernet from Coonawarra, Chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills and Riesling from the Clare Valley remain the basis of the Petaluma range to this day.
The Piccadilly Valley is the coolest viticultural region in South Australia. Hand-picked fruit, crushed/chilled to press, pressed to stainless steel tank, cold settled, racked to oak for fermentation and maturation on lees from around 9 months, barrel selected, blended, stabilized, filtered and bottled.
This Chardonnay is pale gold in colour with complex aromas of stone fruits and citrus zest along with sublte flintiness on the bouquet. The palate displays more stone fruit characteristics which are complemented by subtle oak spice and a fine, creamy texture from both time spent on lees and partial malolactic fermentation. The wine has a lingering finishes comprised of grapefruity pith driving the acid . The wine has great ability to develop beautiful complexity with age.
