Product Description:
Australia’s greatest red, in its latest and most expressive form. Penfolds Bin 95 Grange 2019 is the newest chapter in a legacy that began with Max Schubert’s experimental 1951 vintage. A commanding South Australian Shiraz (with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon), this release reaffirms Grange’s status as one of the world’s most powerful and age-worthy wines. Sourced from the finest vineyard parcels across Barossa, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and Clare, it’s a triumph of multi-region, multi-vineyard blending—crafted with the same uncompromising detail as always.
Matured for 19 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads, the 2019 vintage walks a bold but poised line. Its palate is packed with blue and black fruits, licorice, dark chocolate, and espresso, layered with roasted meat and spice. Grainy tannins and finely tuned acidity support immense structure and longevity. The nose, as ever, is hauntingly complex—black olive, glazed fruit, coffee grinds, lavender and jus.
Already highly acclaimed, this vintage is being favourably compared to Grange legends from 1989, 1999 and 2009. Cellar with confidence until 2065.
Maker
Penfolds has been a pioneer in the world of winemaking since its establishment in 1844 by Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold. The company's success has been driven by a lineage of visionary winemakers who have pushed the development of the company to extraordinary, bold new heights. Mary Penfold's reign at the helm of Penfolds saw years of determination and endeavour, experimenting with new methods in wine production. In 1948, Max Schubert became the company's first Chief Winemaker and he propelled Penfolds onto the global stage with his experimentation of long-lasting wines - the creation of Penfolds Grange in the 1950s. Soon, the medals began flowing, and Grange quickly became one of the most revered wines around the world. In 2012, Penfolds released its most innovative project to date - 12 handcrafted ampoules of the rare 2004 Kalimna Block Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Penfolds continues to hold dear the philosophies and legends that have driven the company's success since its establishment in 1844.
