Bin 389 is a very traditional Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz and today it is truly a multi regional blend drawing from as many as seven different regions depending on the vintage. Although quite different to Grange it is unmistakably Penfolds in style, with fleshy, ripe fruit flavours and chary oak.
Deep red. Fresh, expressive wine with all the hallmarks of a 'Baby Grange'; lovely inky blackberry, meaty, cedar, graphite aromas. Dense, rich, generous, sweet-fruit flavours, underlying malt oak and slinky, chocolaty tannins. This is a great vintage with incredible fruit power and energy. - Winemaker comments by Penfolds Rewards of Patience, Sixth edition, 2008.
