Oliver's Taranga Shiraz 2021
In 1839 William and Elizabeth Oliver travelled to South Australia from Scotland and eventually settled in 1841 on land at McLaren Vale. Whitehill and Taranga farms, the names given to the northern and southern sections of this land, are located 2 km north of McLaren Vale overlooking the township. Taranga is a corruption of the aboriginal word Tarangk, meaning ‘the middle' which was used by the Kaurna, a local aboriginal tribe. Sheep and cattle were raised and orchards and vineyards were planted immediately upon arrival and the family prospered.
2021 was one of the best vintages we have ever had in McLaren Vale. After two years of very low crops and drought, 2021 was perfect in almost every way - apart from a global pandemic that is! Pretty much perfect ripening conditions and one that we will remember for years to come.
Bright mulberry and blackberry on the nose, dark chocolate and mocha notes. All the aroma you have come to know and love from our trusted McLaren Vale Shiraz. Generous and full bodied on the palate, violets, black cherry and boysenberry. Chocolate nibs and vanillan oak round out the palate. An incredible vintage and one that will reward aging.
