Nick Spencer Tempranillo 2018
The fruit for Nick Spencer Tempranillo 2018 was sourced from a vineyard on the Southern edge of the Gundagai region near Book Book, New South Wales. The soils are typical to the region with dark red iron stone gravels over wind swept loam. The wine was fermented in open fermenters and pressed directly to old 500 litre French oak puncheons for 5 months. Following this period the wine finished maturation in stainless steel and was bottled in November 2018.
This wine is bright purple in colour with aromas of raspberries, blueberries and some dark earthy characters very typical of the Gundagai region. With this wine, it's all about the fruit, oak decidedly in the back seat. The palate is lively and juicy with fine tannins and a lovely length, along with the signature spice that the variety is known for.
It's a delicious rendition of Tempranillo, ready to be ripped into straight away.
