Mountain Culture is a popular brewery located in the beautiful Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. It was established in 2019 by a group of friends who were passionate about craft beer and wanted to create a relaxed, welcoming space in which to enjoy it. The building in which Mountain Culture now resides has had a rich history. It was built in 1912 in Katoomba and, for many years, was home to the local paper, 'The Echo'. It later purportedly served as a "dancing saloon and home for lost or belated drunks" before eventually morphing into a Civic Video store. In 2017, DJ and Harriet McCready transformed the dilapidated building into the first brewpub in the Blue Mountains after 18 months of careful renovation. The goal was simple: welcoming people from all over to come in and have a beer. But not just any beer! At Mountain Culture, they hold themselves accountable to a standard that means they are constantly pushing the limit to figure out how they can brew a better beer every batch. Since the delivery of their first batch in 2019, Mountain Culture has been a mecca for beer lovers seeking the ultimate beer experience. The beautifully restored building is not only an excellent example of "inter-war free-classical" architecture but also a tangible representation of the dream to create a brewery that serves beer for the adventurous. To ensure that the beer is of the highest quality, the brewery uses a 12-hectolitre Premier stainless system customised to enable decoction mashing.

A lager beer is a type of beer that is primarily fermented with a type of yeast called bottom-fermenting yeast. The term "lager" actually comes from the German word "lagern," which means "to store," reflecting the process of cold-conditioning that is typically used during the brewing process. Lagers are generally lighter in color and have a crisp, refreshing taste due to the unique brewing process. The yeast used in lagers is different from the yeast used in ales, which are fermented at warmer temperatures using top-fermenting yeast. Unlike ales that are usually fermented in just a few days, lagers are fermented over a longer period in cold temperatures and are bottom-fermented, resulting in a smoother and less fruity taste than ales. Some common styles of lager include pilsner, bock, and Oktoberfest, with pale lagers being the most popular style of beer worldwide.

Mountain Culture Lager is a classic style lager that is brewed according to traditional methods. The beer pours a crystal-clear golden hue with a fluffy white head, giving it the classic lager look. The aroma is subtle with a hint of grain, biscuit and a touch of grassiness which is a characteristic of noble hops. The taste is clean and crisp, refreshing the palate with light biscuit and bread flavors that are balanced perfectly with just a whisper of hop bitterness. It has a nice, smooth finish that leaves you wanting more. The beer also has a soft carbonation level that creates a gentle effervescence that enhances the overall drinking experience.
