Mount Mary Chardonnay 2018
The Mount Mary Chardonnay 2018 has kept all of its important natural acid line, remaining focused and fresh yet still full of flavour from the warm growing season. On those are toasty characteristics combined with flint/stuck match. Swiftly pushing the secondary characteristics to the side is an intense lime, grapefruit, and seared pear notes. Some creme brulee and honey aromas. The palate has an explosion of flavours. Full of honey, grapefruit, ripe pair, toast and almond meal. Depth and richness throughout adding with freshness and length.
Plenty of struck match, lime, almond, and white flowers (including vanilla, of course). It’s full of flavour, albeit set to a somewhat tangy and grapefruity expression, with plenty of grip and grainy texture, lime rind, spice and some honey water sweetness. Finish is long and intense, with a tonic-like twang, and zesty appeal. Excellent. Needs a couple of years to settle down. - Gary Walsh, Wine Front, 95 Points
