Montinore Estate was founded by former attorney John Forbis at the turn of the 20th century, when he saw parallels between his new home in Oregon’s Forest Grove and his native Montana. Originally a farm and cattle ranch, the estate transitioned into vineyards in 1982 after an agricultural survey confirmed its suitability for grape-growing. Under the leadership of Rudy Marchesi, who purchased the estate in 2003, Montinore Estate became a pioneer in Biodynamic® farming, receiving Demeter certification in 2008. Today, Montinore is a leader in sustainable agriculture and is recognized for producing some of the finest wines in Oregon, particularly in the Willamette Valley.
