Mas de Libian Vin de Petanque 2020
The Thibon family acquired the Libian property in 1670, and in 1970 Jean-Pierre Thibon decided to wholly focus on wine production. Since then, the estate has grown to 25 hectares of vineyards and 8 hectares of "nourishing" land planted to olive trees, vegetable and flower gardens and grains to support the organic and biodynamic viticulture. Mas de Libian began its biodynamic farming in 2005 and was shortly certified by Demeter afterwards. Libian refers to the this wine as the "Sip while playing a lazy summer game of pétanque in the south of France.." A blend of mostly Grenache with the rest made up of about 25% Syrah, Counoise, Vaccarese, and Mourvedre all from the younger vines at the estate. All biodynamic and organic farming practices are used for this delightful and engaging red. Great for whiling away an afternoon and even better with a light chill on it.
