Marion’s 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella reflects the vision of Stefano Campedelli and his family: to coax purity and finesse from one of Italy’s richest red wine styles. Working just outside the Valpolicella Classico zone in the Valle di Marcellise, they focus solely on estate-grown fruit, calcareous soils, and traditional methods elevated by meticulous detail.
The wine is built from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, with every grape hand-picked and dried naturally on racks for up to eight weeks in ventilated rooms. Fermentation in stainless steel is long and ambient, followed by 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels—only 10% sees smaller oak, keeping the oak imprint in check. The result is an Amarone with real poise: deep, powerful fruit framed by spice, smoke and tension.
On the palate, it’s all dried cranberry, mocha, dark cherry and sweet spice, underpinned by natural acidity and a savoury edge. Rich and concentrated, but never overblown. A wine to sip slowly, ideally with hard cheeses, braised meats or truffled polenta.

Marion is a family-owned winery rooted in the quiet hills of the Marcellise Valley, just east of Verona. This is where Stefano Campedelli and his family have been shaping their vision since the early 1990s, reviving an ancient viticultural area with a modern yet sensitive hand. Working exclusively with estate-grown fruit, the team at Marion combines deep regional knowledge with an uncompromising focus on precision—both in the vineyard and the cellar.
The estate’s vineyards span gently sloping hills at 100–150 metres above sea level, with well-drained calcareous soils enriched by clay and scattered stones. A north–south exposure and the moderating influence of nearby Lake Garda create the conditions for steady ripening and natural freshness. These elements come together to produce wines that are detailed, structured, and unmistakably of place.
Philosophy
Marion’s approach is built on clarity and care. The estate champions traditional methods—selective hand-harvesting, natural drying of grapes (appassimento), and long maturation in large Slavonian oak barrels—while allowing each vintage to shape its own rhythm.
