An Italian benchmark that changed the course of Tuscan wine. Tignanello 2015 from Marchesi Antinori represents one of the most important vintages of this pioneering Super Tuscan. Produced entirely from the Tenuta Tignanello estate in the Chianti Classico hills between the Greve and Pesa valleys, the wine is crafted from a blend of approximately 80% Sangiovese with small portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard’s calcareous and marl-rich soils sit at an elevation of 350–400 metres, offering ideal drainage and temperature variation for slow, even ripening.

The 2015 growing season was defined by a warm, balanced climate with cool nights during ripening, producing grapes of exceptional concentration and aromatic precision. Fermentation took place in conical stainless steel tanks, allowing gentle extraction and fine-grained tannin structure. Maturation followed for around 14 months in a mix of new and once-used French and Hungarian oak barrels, with each variety aged separately before blending.

In the glass, Tignanello 2015 expresses a seamless interplay between power and elegance. An articulation of Sangiovese’s purity framed by Cabernet’s structure. It reflects the Antinori family’s philosophy of respecting tradition while pursuing innovation, a vision that has defined this wine since its first release in 1971.

      Trusted by the professionals

Fantastic aromas of dark berries, sandalwood and Spanish cedar that are ever so deep. Full body, an incredible spin of polished tannins and bright acidity. Incredible depth. … Best since the legendary 1997?

      — James Suckling, 98/100

Dense and intensely flavoured, with violet, black currant, blackberry, graphite, wild herb and spice aromas and flavours, this is concentrated and solidly built, yet also harmonious, vibrant and pure. Approachable now, but should be better in a few years

      — Wine Spectator, 97/100

Leather, cassis, cedar, black-skinned berry and exotic spice aromas slowly shape the nose. … Fine-grained tannins lend seamless support. It’s also surprisingly fresh and balanced for the hot vintage

      — Wine Enthusiast, 95/100

      Marchesi Antinori

Tenuta Tignanello sits at the heart of Chianti Classico, where the Greve and Pesa river valleys cut through gently rolling hills. The estate spans 319 hectares, with 165 planted to vines, anchored by its two celebrated slopes: Tignanello and Solaia. These sites, defined by Pliocene-era soils of limestone, schist, and marine marlstone, are the cradle of some of Italy’s most influential wines.

The Antinori family has worked these hillsides for generations, first releasing Solaia in 1978. The initial blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc soon gave way to the introduction of Sangiovese, shaping the distinctive character of the wine as it is known today. Produced only in exceptional vintages, Solaia is a measured act of restraint and ambition, with a legacy that continues to set the benchmark for contemporary Tuscan winemaking.
