The fruit for the Mac Forbes RS4 Riesling 2021 vintage is from the second pick, this is characterised by the fine chalky phenolics Mac Fobres have come to love from the ‘bogies. Lime zest, honeysuckle, lemongrass and black tea bring power and density to this wine.
The 2021 season in the Strathbogie Ranges was abundant, with practically flawless conditions during fruit set. A couple of significant rain events in late January/early February delayed ripening a little, while moderate daytime temperatures and cool nights throughout February and March allowed the grapes to retain impressive acids. A vintage characterised by structure with a wide spectrum of fruit expression across their picks.
