Louis Roederer et Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2018 is the fifth release of the innovative collaboration between Champagne house Louis Roederer and renowned designer Philippe Starck, created to explore a pure and uncompromising expression of Champagne. Produced exclusively from a single hillside vineyard site in Cumières, the wine reflects the warm and generous character of the outstanding 2018 vintage. The blend is composed primarily of Pinot Noir, complemented by Meunier and Chardonnay, with a small proportion of Pinot Blanc. In keeping with the Brut Nature philosophy, the wine is bottled with zero dosage, allowing the vineyard and vintage to speak without embellishment. A portion of the wine was fermented in oak, while malolactic fermentation was deliberately avoided to preserve freshness and structure. The result is a Champagne of remarkable precision, energy and mineral intensity.

The 2018 vintage was one of Champagne’s most successful growing seasons, delivering exceptionally healthy fruit with outstanding ripeness and concentration. Despite its richness, Brut Nature 2018 remains vibrant and finely balanced, driven by saline freshness and chalky minerality. Aromas of pear, citrus, white flowers and crushed stone unfold with aeration, while the palate combines generosity with tension and purity. The texture is refined and creamy, supported by a lively mousse and a distinctive limestone character. Its long, dry finish highlights the wine’s terroir-driven personality and exceptional precision. While already captivating, this Champagne possesses the structure and freshness to evolve beautifully over the coming decade and beyond. It is an excellent companion to oysters, sashimi, shellfish, caviar and refined seafood dishes.

“A mouthwatering Champagne, with generosity to the flavors of juicy pear, nectarine, preserved lemon and grilled nuts. This is sleek and well-meshed, with a satiny mousse, plus an underlying streak of salinity that drives the racy finish. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Drink now through 2043.” — Wine Spectator, 94 Points

“A touch of yellow pear flashes up on the nose, immediately signalling both ripeness and the sense of juiciness that pervades the entire wine. This is accompanied by some ripe Mirabelle plum and only restrained hints of creaminess. The palate is pure, and even juicier than the nose, shining with as much clarity as roundness. The absence of dosage pushes both ripeness and structure centre stage and underlines a sense of clarity, while the finest phenolic frame corrals the fruit. Harvested from a south-facing, concave hillside in the village of Cumières that slopes down to the river Marne, this is clearly ripe, but also still embryonic. Beautifully juicy and clear right now, this will gain with further bottle age.”

“A racy, taut Brut Nature brimming with lemon peel, green apple and crushed stone; mouthwatering precision and impressive depth for zero dosage.”

      Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer is a highly respected Champagne producer located in the historic city of Reims. The renowned Champagne house, founded in the late 1700s, is still owned and operated by the Roederer family. Their signature style consists of an equal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a touch of Pinot Meunier, which comprises approximately one-fifth of the blend. Louis Roederer's most famous wine is Cristal, a prestigious Champagne that has captured the hearts of wine enthusiasts worldwide. The house was founded in 1833 and aimed to capture foreign markets, particularly Russia. Roederer became the wine of choice for the Russian royal family, and Cristal was created for Tsar Alexander II. Louis Roederer acquired grand cru vineyards in Champagne in 1845, which was unusual for the time as most houses were buying grapes from growers. Today, the Roederer vineyards encompass around 240 hectares of land, with around 25% managed biodynamically. This commitment to sustainable farming practices is a testament to the house's dedication to producing high-quality wines that are both delicious and environmentally responsible.
