The Langmeil Jackaman’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is a striking expression of the Barossa's rich winemaking heritage and the legacy of one of its most cherished vineyards. The Jackaman’s vineyard, planted in the 1960s during the Cabernet revolution in the Barossa, is home to Langmeil’s finest and rarest Cabernet Sauvignon. Once lovingly tended by the colourful Barossan Arthur Jackaman, a World War II paratrooper, boxer, and butcher, this small plot was passed into Langmeil’s care in his retirement, ensuring that his passion for this land and its vines lives on.

The 2021 vintage reflects the vineyard’s unique history, offering a medium to full-bodied wine that showcases the best characteristics of Barossa Cabernet. The fruit is harvested from vines that have been nurtured in the region’s soils for decades, resulting in a wine of depth, complexity, and rich fruit intensity. The wine is aged with precision in French oak to enhance the structure, imparting subtle oak influences without overwhelming the fruit’s pure expression.

      Langmeil

Langmeil Winery, established in 1842, holds a significant place in the history of the Barossa Valley. Founded by Christian Auricht, a Prussian migrant who planted some of the region’s earliest vines, Langmeil’s rich heritage includes the oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard in the world. After changing hands several times, the winery was revitalised in 1996 by three local mates who brought it back to life with a focus on sustainability and quality. Today, Langmeil is a family-owned winery renowned for its premium wine production and commitment to preserving the Barossa’s winemaking traditions.

Langmeil's approach to winemaking is deeply rooted in the region’s history, working with old vine vineyards and producing wines that showcase the Barossa's distinct terroir. Their wines are made with care and respect for the land, incorporating both traditional methods and modern innovations to bring out the best of the Barossa’s unique characteristics.

      Tasting notes

      NOSE
      Red Currant, Blackberries, Cedar

The nose is inviting, with lifted aromas of red and blackcurrant entwined with the rich, complex scent of cedary French oak. Hints of liquorice and savoury black olive add depth, creating a layered aromatic profile that draws you in.

      PALATE
      Juicy, Rich, Silky

On the palate, the wine offers bright, juicy blue fruits that flow seamlessly onto a medium to full-bodied structure. Notes of briary spice and black olive complement the fruit, while subtle hints of new oak sweetness and silky tannins add complexity. The palate is rich yet well-balanced, showcasing the perfect integration of fruit, oak, and structure.

      FINISH
      Long, Velvety, Structured

The finish is long and velvety, with mineral notes that add freshness. The wine’s fine tannins and balanced acidity provide an elegant structure, ensuring that it will age gracefully for years to come.
