      In 1842 a 32 year old Blacksmith, Christian Auricht, arrived from Prussia with his wife and four children. He settled in the new hamlet of Langmeil and built a blacksmith shop in what became the village’s trading area. His original shop remains a feature of the winery’s heritage today. This is comprised of 90% Barossa fruit and 10% Eden Valley. The wine was matured in 18% new and 82% old French Oak. Overall the 2016 season really highlights how tenacious and robust grape vines are, producing good yields and great quality in a brutally dry season.

      Langmeil Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

      Rich loam, cedar and blackcurrants mingle on the nose of the 2016 Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon. Showing excellent ripeness and depth, it's a medium to full-bodied wine, generous in dark fruit and supported by vanilla shadings, finishing with grainy tannins and ample length.

      Langmeil

      Langmeil Winery, established in 1842, holds a significant place in the history of the Barossa Valley. Founded by Christian Auricht, a Prussian migrant who planted some of the region’s earliest vines, Langmeil’s rich heritage includes the oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard in the world. After changing hands several times, the winery was revitalised in 1996 by three local mates who brought it back to life with a focus on sustainability and quality. Today, Langmeil is a family-owned winery renowned for its premium wine production and commitment to preserving the Barossa’s winemaking traditions.

      Langmeil's approach to winemaking is deeply rooted in the region’s history, working with old vine vineyards and producing wines that showcase the Barossa's distinct terroir. Their wines are made with care and respect for the land, incorporating both traditional methods and modern innovations to bring out the best of the Barossa’s unique characteristics.

      Lifted Blueberries, Black Olive, Sweet Spice Complexity

      Lifted blueberries, black currants and black olive dominate the aroma, with lovely cedar and hints of liquorice and sweet spice adding to the complexity.

      PALATE
      Fresh Blackberries, Granite Minerals, Touch of Eucalyptus

      Full figured. There's some nice fresh blackberry fruit here along with some plums, granite and eucalyptus and ivy character.

      FINISH
      Fine, Juice Finish, Succulent

      Fine-grained tannins and a juicy finish. Very succulent. Hard to resist
