Established by Dr Max Lake in 1963, Lake’s Folly was one of Australia’s first boutique wineries. Current winemaker Rod Kemp has taken the estate to the next level and the wines are so popular that the cellar door is open only around 4 months a year as the wines sell out so quickly upon release.
The 2012 Lake’s Folly Cabernet is a triumph especially given it was an incredibly challenging finish. While lighter palate weight than many other releases, this is well-balanced with herbal notes and all that delicious tobacco, dark berry fruits and leather. More importantly it is a style that can be drunk and enjoyed young - it sits in its ideal drinking window now.
