Kings County Straight Rye Whiskey 375ml
Kings County Straight Rye Whiskey is a small batch whiskey that is made from 80% New York grown Danko rye and 20% Golden Promise English malt that is aged for a minimum of two years in charred oak barrels. An extremely complex rye, it shows glowing notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, maple, mint and cut grass that finishes with a warm bread and holiday spice flavour that leaves you wanting more. This straight rye whiskey is better in simply every category versus the commercial norm.
2015 saw six New York distilleries band together to create an association dedicated to establishing a whiskey style exclusively for the Empire State. Four short years later, they've added another three and constantly growing. This group has been responsible for creating the official distilling instructions for whiskey made in the Empire State to better differentiate from other states in America.
Kings County Distillery is the largest and oldest whiskey distillery in New York City. In 2012, Kings County started their distilling foray in the Paymaster Building in Brooklyn's historic Navy Yard, starting with moonshine, bourbon and a variety of other whiskies. All of Kings County's whiskies are mashed, fermented, distilled and aged onsite in Brooklyn. This historic building is steps away from the legendary site of Brooklyn's "Whiskey Wars", occuring in the 1860's.
Using New York grain and traditional distilling equipment, Kings County is able to make distinctively 'New York' spirits that have claimed international acclaim. In 2016, Kings County Distillery won the prestigious Distillery of the Year in America, making it among one of the fastest rising stars of the liquor world in the States. They've also earned praise in The New York Times, Wine & Spirits Magazine, GQ and The New Yorker.
