Product Description:
The Joh. Jos. Prüm Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese 2024 is a refined, naturally sweet Riesling from the celebrated Zeltinger Sonnenuhr vineyard in Germany’s Mosel region. Produced by one of the Middle Mosel’s most respected estates, it combines ripe Spätlese fruit with remarkable delicacy, freshness and mineral precision. The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr is recognised as a VDP.GROSSE LAGE® vineyard and lies on steep, south-west-facing slopes overlooking the Mosel River. Its exposed slate soils and favourable position help produce Rieslings distinguished by floral aromatics, firm mineral structure and persistent saline character.
The 2024 release opens with aromas of ripe apricot, peach and cassis, accompanied by dried herbs, subtle smoke and freshly weathered slate. On the palate, generous stone-fruit juiciness is balanced by vibrant acidity and a firm mineral foundation. The natural sweetness associated with the Spätlese classification is present but carefully controlled, allowing the wine to remain sleek, focused and remarkably agile. Notes of Reine Claude plum, apricot and citrus unfold alongside savoury herbs and cool stony nuances. At only 7.5% alcohol, the wine possesses exceptional lightness while retaining considerable flavour intensity and depth. Its fine acidity provides energy and precision, drawing the ripe fruit towards a long and composed finish. Lingering saltiness and slate-driven minerality further enhance its sophisticated and distinctly Mosel character. Although already expressive, the wine has the balance, acidity and mineral structure required to develop gracefully over many years. It is an excellent partner for roast pork, poultry, seafood, aromatic Asian cuisine, pâté, charcuterie and moderately rich cheeses.

Reviews & Accolades
“The 2024 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese offers wet stone and dried herbs on the nose, almost like deadnettle crushed on slate, with the tenderest smokiness. The palate then adds a gorgeous streak of ripe Reine Claude plum with a juiciness that softens the stone. It becomes agile, sinuous and animated. What lovely character, subtlety, elegance and astonishing saltiness this has that seemingly swallows most of the sweetness. Its subtle, stony length is remarkable. ” — Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, 96 Points
“The apricot aromas make this Spatlese stand out from the pack in the 2024 vintage. But there’s nothing opulent about this wine in spite of the generous juiciness on the medium-bodied palate. In fact, it is sleek, focused and very crisp in the long, complete finish. Drink or hold.” — Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com, 95 Points
“The 2024 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese has a very delicate nose that is characterized by subtle notes of weathered slate and herbs. The wine is light, elegant and subtly spicy, resting on a mineral-rich foundation that fully integrates its fruit and thus makes it appear less fruity. It's an exquisite, very refined and sophisticated Spätlese of remarkable delicacy and with a lingering saltiness.” — Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, 94 Points
