Product Description
Royal pedigree in a compact pour.
A historic house with roots stretching back to 1785, Heidsieck & Co Monopole has long held its place among Champagne royalty. Once poured at the courts of Prussia, Sweden, and Tsarist Russia, its Blue Top Brut is still a staple for those seeking tradition wrapped in finesse—even in this 200ml miniature.
The Blue Top label isn’t just marketing—it’s legacy. When salvaged bottles from an early 19th-century shipwreck were analysed in 2010, oenologists confirmed Heidsieck & Co Monopole among the oldest surviving Champagne vintages found on board. This storied past adds depth to every bottle, large or small.
Crafted as a Brut non-vintage, this Champagne is driven by orchard fruit and citrus. Yellow peach and cherry plum guide the palate, with floral tones lifting the nose and a gentle thread of honey running through. A neat format perfect for gifting, celebrating, or solo indulgence.
Maker
Founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck in Reims, Heidsieck & Co Monopole began as a dual venture in wool and wine before focusing solely on Champagne. Passed down through family hands, the house evolved under Henri-Louis Walbaum and Auguste Heidsieck, solidifying the "Monopole" name and earning prestigious royal appointments, including as supplier to Tsar Nicolas II. Its enduring heritage is marked by moments like the discovery of 200-year-old bottles in a Baltic shipwreck, and the 2017 revival of its historic 1907 label.
Today, Heidsieck & Co Monopole operates under the Vranken-Pommery Monopole Group, with a cellar master who continues to protect and refine the house style. Combining time-honoured winemaking techniques with a forward-looking sensibility, Monopole maintains a consistent character defined by structure, longevity, and finesse. This commitment to craftsmanship and legacy positions the house among Champagne’s most storied producers.
Philosophy
Heidsieck & Co Monopole’s philosophy is anchored in the preservation of time-tested savoir-faire while embracing the rhythm of modern Champagne drinkers. Central to their process is the meticulous use of reserve wines—base wines aged for up to three years, which bring structure, roundness, and continuity across vintages. These components form more than half of each blend, ensuring the house’s distinctive style remains precise, expressive, and enduring.
This commitment is carried through in every aspect of production, from sourcing high-quality grapes—primarily Pinot Noir—to the cellar master’s role as both custodian and innovator. With deep roots in Champagne’s history and a forward-looking approach to balance and finesse, Monopole’s guiding ethos is clear: honour the past, perfect the present, and craft for generations to come.

Reviews + Accolades
This is a lovely Champagne. Aromas and flavours that tick the boxes of autolysis and intensity, stone fruit and preserved citrus, a layer of baked goods and chalky mineral qualities. There’s also a completeness from the bouquet as well suggesting a readiness to drink and no need to age further - though one could leave in cellar for a couple of years without concern.. An even flourish from the mousse as it touches the palate, a medium intensity with some rounded softer moments and a flourish of freshness from the acid line. Overall a lovely wine, balanced, well made and ready with best drinking from day of purchase through 2029. - Cameron Douglas, camdouglasms.com, 93 points
Terrific toast and crispness. Baked bread and green apple vibrancy. Natalie Maclean, nataliemaclean.com, 90 points
