Precision, purity and place converge in this defining Clare Valley Riesling. The 2025 Grosset Polish Hill Riesling is drawn exclusively from the estate’s eight-hectare certified organic and biodynamic vineyard, set on ancient blue slate soils in the high, cool reaches of the Clare Valley. These unforgiving conditions produce small, concentrated berries of remarkable intensity, translating directly into a wine of shimmering clarity and tensile strength. It is a Riesling that speaks fluently of its origin, taut, mineral and deeply expressive.

The Polish Hill site was hand-selected and planted by Jeffrey Grosset in 1996 after extensive geological research. The vineyard’s shallow shales and fine silt sit above a crust of clay and gravel, which in turn rests upon a base of 500 million-year-old slate. The vines are close-planted and low-yielding, producing an average of only two bottles per vine. Three Riesling clones — two German and one rare local — contribute subtle layers of complexity. Each block is hand-tended to account for natural vigour variations, ensuring even ripening and precise flavour development.

Winemaking at Grosset is guided by restraint and clarity. The fruit is harvested by hand at peak ripeness, whole-bunch pressed and fermented cool with natural yeasts in stainless steel to preserve varietal character. The 2025 vintage reveals remarkable focus and purity, combining tightly wound citrus and mineral tones with understated power. Released in limited quantities, it represents the pinnacle of Australian Riesling, a wine built on discipline, transparency and an unwavering connection to the land.

      Trusted by the professionals

Bright and expressive, with aromas of lemon blossoms, kaffir limes, green apples and crushed slate. The palate is finely etched and vibrant, showing zesty acidity layered with citrus, white peach and mineral flavours. Persistent and tightly wound, with excellent clarity and length. A fine bottling … balances power and restraint

      — James Suckling, 98 points

The weight of the palate here feels special … it tastes of stones, bath salts, florals and citrus, a gunmetal aspect lurking within. The purity of the fruit here, and the power of it … the chalky, stony impression of the finish … superb release

      — Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, 96 points
