Product Description:
Three casks, two decades, one remarkably rich Glenlivet. The Glenlivet 21 Year Old from The Sample Room Collection is a masterstroke of maturation. This refined single malt is triple cask finished—first-fill Oloroso Sherry, Tronçais Oak Cognac, and Colheita Vintage Port—bringing new depth to the distillery’s signature smooth and fruit-forward style. Each cask type lends its own influence: sherry for richness, Cognac for spice, and Port for plush fruit and sweetness.
After decades in traditional oak, the whisky is finished in these rare barrels to layer complexity without overwhelming finesse. The result is all Glenlivet polish with added intrigue: caramelised pear and sultana on the nose, followed by dried apricots, chocolate-coated ginger and spiced warmth on the palate. It’s seamless, complex, and deserving of its age statement.
One for the serious malt drinker or a special gift, this is Glenlivet elevated.
The Maker
Founded in 1824, The Glenlivet was the vision of George Smith, the first man in Speyside to obtain a legal distilling licence at a time when illicit whisky production defined the region. In naming his distillery after the valley of the River Livet — “the smooth-flowing one” — Smith tied his whisky to place, setting a benchmark for Speyside’s now-famous style. His spirit, celebrated for its clarity and fruit-driven character, quickly became the whisky that others sought to imitate, forcing legal protections around the name by the late 19th century.
Today, The Glenlivet remains under the stewardship of Chivas Brothers, part of Pernod Ricard, producing millions of litres annually while still anchored in the traditions George Smith pioneered. From its core 12 Year Old to limited reserves, the distillery continues to define Speyside whisky for a global audience.
Philosophy
The Glenlivet’s story has always been one of quiet defiance and forward motion. Where others smuggled, George Smith chose legitimacy, setting a precedent for transparency and quality that reshaped the industry. That pioneering spirit endures — from experiments with barley seeds sent into orbit, to championing new ways of enjoying single malt in cocktails, The Glenlivet balances respect for heritage with a drive to innovate.
At its core, the distillery’s philosophy is about shaping whisky that carries both place and time: smooth, fruity, unmistakably Speyside, yet never static. It is a whisky that honours its valley, its founder’s resolve, and the generations of drinkers who continue to seek its unmistakable character.
