Established in 1826 by James Allardice the Glendronach distillery was one of the first licensed distilleries in Scotland. The GlenDronach is borne of the landscape and natural ingredients that surround, from the soft Highland water drawn from the underwater springs in the Balnoon hills to the Scottish malted barley sourced from our trusted partners. The hallmark of the distillery is the marriage of robust Highland spirit with the finest Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucia in Spain. This exquisite duality brings exceptional depth, complexity, and character to their whiskies.

Glendronach Grandeur Batch 11 28 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky was created by Dr Rachel Barrie from a small number of Oloroso sherry casks which demonstrate exceptional character. This expression is an exquisite representation of the rich, complex and full-bodied style of The GlenDronach Distillery. All of its natural colour has been drawn from the casks in which it has rested for almost three decades. Each bottle is individually numbered by hand as a reflection of its rarity.

Ruby tinged walnut in colour, the nose is opulent and powerful with a symphony of sherry aromatics, interwoven with dark manuka honey, roasted almond and walnut. Baked plum and ginger captivate the senses, deepening to rustic vintage leather and freshly ground coffee.
On the palate the flavours are intense and full-bodied with dark fruit notes on a base of velvet and fine leather. A crescendo of black cherry and espresso adorns each mouthful. This whisky is richly rewarding, with a persistent chocolate, liquorice and walnut finish.

The aroma of this whisky is filled with walnuts, candied orange peels, and honeyed Grape Nuts cereal. Oak and leather are present, somewhat like an old library. As you taste, there's a brightness along with barrel spices on the tongue which helps to give the whisky some dimension. Going back for more of the lush whisky brings out more baked and dried fruits as well as touches of oxidative notes from the sherry. The finish is incredibly long and despite the 28 years of aging, still has lots of life left in it. Pour in your finest glassware and enjoy neat. - Stephanie Moreno, Distiller

This eleventh batch of The GlenDronach Cask Strength embodies The GlenDronach‘s celebrated style of Spanish Oak maturation in fine Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks from Andalucía - Dr Rachel Barrie, Master Blender
