The 2024 Giant Steps Rosé is a deliciously refreshing wine made from early-picked Yarra Valley Pinot Noir and Syrah, sourced from the renowned Sexton and Tarraford vineyards. Only the free-run juice is used, which is the purest juice that flows naturally from the weight of the grapes before pressing—a technique known as vin de goutte (noble juice) in French. This results in a Rosé that is both vibrant and flavourful, showcasing the true expression of these exceptional varieties.
The fruit was hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, with only the fresh, free-run juice selected. The clear juice was then racked into stainless-steel tanks for a long, cool fermentation before being matured on ferment lees until bottling in July. The result is a refreshing Rosé with bright, invigorating flavours that make it perfect for enjoying year-round.
The team at Giant Steps is celebrating after being named Winery of the Year, and their 2023 Applejack Pinot Noir was awarded Best Pinot Noir at the 2025 Halliday Companion Awards. “It’s truly wonderful to see the dedication and hard work of our entire Giant Steps team acknowledged in such a profound way,” says winemaker Steve Flamsteed. Giant Steps continues to craft wines that reflect the purity and finesse of their remarkable vineyard sites, considered some of the most exciting in Australia.
