Product Description:
Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2025 is a finely composed expression of Pinot Noir sourced from vineyards throughout Victoria’s celebrated Yarra Valley. Half of the fruit was drawn from vineyards in the cooler Upper Yarra ranges, contributing freshness, fragrance and structural precision to the finished wine. The 2025 season began with a generously wet winter that replenished moisture throughout the vineyard soils before warm and dry conditions arrived in spring. Favourable flowering and fruit-set conditions supported healthy development, while the dry growing season encouraged steady ripening without excessive heat. An earlier-than-usual and compressed harvest produced fruit showing excellent concentration, purity and weight. All grapes were harvested by hand and carefully sorted in the vineyard to preserve fruit quality.
The wine was produced using a combination of whole-bunch, semi-carbonic fermentation and destemmed whole-berry fermentation, with the final blend containing 32% whole bunches. Destemmed parcels received a three-day cold soak before undergoing natural fermentation, while gentle gravity-fed drain-and-return techniques were used to manage extraction. Following fermentation, the individual parcels were matured for eight months in French oak barriques, comprising 16% new oak and 84% seasoned oak. The wine was then bottled by gravity without fining or filtration, preserving its natural character, texture and aromatic clarity. Bright cherry and raspberry fruit is complemented by lavender, spice and a supple, medium-bodied palate. Balanced acidity and finely integrated tannins provide freshness and definition, making the wine approachable in its youth while allowing it to develop gracefully over the short to medium term.
