Frogmore Creek Sparkling Cuvée 2022 is a dry vintage sparkling wine produced from fruit grown entirely within Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. The blend comprises 70% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier and 5% Chardonnay, with Pinot Noir providing the dominant foundation. Southern Tasmania’s cool climate and extended growing season allow the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining the fresh natural acidity essential to quality sparkling wine. The fruit for this release was harvested at an approximate yield of 12 tonnes per hectare. At the winery, the bunches were pressed intact, with only the free-run juice selected to preserve fruit purity and delicacy. The finished wine contains less than 2 grams per litre of residual sugar, placing it firmly within a crisp and notably dry style.
Winemakers John Bown and Alain Rousseau describe a fresh expression characterised by nutty aromas, ripe fruit, subtle toast and a creamy texture. Bright citrus and orchard-fruit flavours are supported by energetic acidity and a fine, persistent sparkling profile. Savoury mineral nuances and gentle bread-like complexity bring further dimension without obscuring the wine’s freshness. With a pH of 3.08 and total acidity of 8.6 grams per litre, the technical composition reinforces its precise and focused character. The finish remains dry, crisp and clean, with lingering citrus, mineral and lightly toasted notes. The 2022 vintage was awarded a Silver Medal at the 2026 Tasmanian Wine Show, confirming its quality among Tasmania’s vintage sparkling wines.
