Product Description:
The Domaine Michel Gros Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Fontaine Saint Martin Blanc 2023 is a single-vineyard Chardonnay from the elevated Hautes-Côtes de Nuits in Burgundy. Fontaine Saint Martin is a monopole of Domaine Michel Gros, giving the domaine sole control over the vineyard and its viticultural direction. The Chardonnay comes from approximately 3.25 hectares of vines more than twenty years old, planted on a hillside distinguished by limestone-rich “Pernand marls.” These soils are particularly well suited to producing Chardonnay with freshness, mineral definition and restrained richness. 

The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and crushed before undergoing an overnight period of skin contact in tank. After pressing, the must is transferred to casks while fermentation is still underway, allowing alcoholic fermentation to finish slowly in barrel. Approximately 20% new oak is employed, with regular lees stirring contributing texture and complexity before the wine is blended, filtered and bottled. The 2023 vintage displays floral, apple and citrus-peel aromas, complemented by ripe orchard fruit and discreet oak. Its palate is generous yet refreshing, combining a fleshy texture with clean acidity and a subtle mineral current. The finish remains dry, energetic and citrus-driven, making this a refined example of Chardonnay from the higher slopes west of the Côte de Nuits. It is well suited to grilled fish, shellfish, roast poultry, creamy vegetable dishes and soft cheeses.

Ripe orchard fruit, citrus, a fleshy mid-palate and subtle mineral tension balanced by refreshing acidity.

– Clean and energetic
Dry and persistent, with lingering lemon peel, apple and gentle mineral notes.
