Product Description:
Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières 2024 is a finely structured Chardonnay from one of Puligny-Montrachet’s recognised Premier Cru climats. The wine is produced by a historic family estate established in 1820 and situated in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet. Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy has worked the village’s celebrated terroirs for more than six generations and today encompasses approximately seven hectares of vineyards. The estate follows a precise, terroir-focused approach intended to reveal the individual character of each parcel. The vines used for Les Perrières have an average age of approximately 41 years, contributing concentration, depth and mineral definition. The wine is matured for eleven months in oak barrels before spending a further seven months in stainless-steel tanks. Approximately 25–30% new barrels are used, providing measured structure while preserving the wine’s freshness and vineyard expression.
The domaine describes Les Perrières as displaying fine and delicate floral aromas, followed by a broad and rich palate with notable power and length. Production was exceptionally limited in 2024, amounting to only three barrels. Despite its breadth, the wine possesses a savoury, tense and channelled profile that gives it impressive focus. Its intensity is carried by a long, distinctly salty finish, highlighting the mineral character associated with the vineyard. The combination of mature-vine fruit, restrained new oak and extended élevage gives the wine both immediate complexity and considerable ageing potential. The producer suggests a cellaring window of approximately eight to nine years. It may be served as an aperitif or paired with white meats, fish and refined seafood dishes.
