Product Description:
Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy Puligny-Montrachet Les Charmes 2024 is a single-vineyard Chardonnay from a historic family estate situated in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet. Founded in 1820, the domaine has worked the village’s celebrated terroirs for six generations and today encompasses approximately seven hectares of vineyards. Les Charmes is a named village-level lieu-dit rather than a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, an important distinction despite the vineyard’s privileged position. The parcel lies on the northern edge of Puligny-Montrachet, close to the boundary with Meursault and immediately beside the renowned Meursault Premier Cru Charmes vineyard. This location contributes a broader and more generous expression than the domaine’s standard village blend while retaining the mineral clarity associated with Puligny-Montrachet. The vines have an average age of approximately 46 years, providing naturally concentrated Chardonnay fruit with depth and textural presence.
The wine is matured for eleven months in barrel before spending an additional seven months in stainless-steel tanks. Approximately 20% new oak is used, contributing measured spice and texture without overwhelming the vineyard’s fruit and mineral character. The producer describes Les Charmes as possessing a strong aromatic and palate presence, with ripe fruit accompanied by mineral, buttery and rounded nuances. Its proximity to Meursault gives the wine a supple, generous dimension, while Puligny freshness maintains definition and balance. The extended period in stainless steel helps restore tension and clarity following barrel maturation. Although appealing relatively young, the domaine indicates an ageing potential of approximately six to seven years. It may be served as an aperitif or paired with white fish, shellfish, poultry, white meats and dishes finished with light cream or butter-based sauces.

Reviews & Accolades
“This showed cinnamon notes, from a new barrel with a different toast, with which they are experimenting. There is more creaminess to the Charmes than the main village cuveé, with a plumper, rather Meursault, feel. 2027–32.” — Sarah Marsh MW, The World of Fine Wine, 88 Points
