Product Description:
Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains 2024 is an elegant Chardonnay from a highly positioned Premier Cru vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet. The wine is produced by a historic family domaine that has worked the celebrated terroirs of the village for six generations. Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy manages approximately seven hectares of vines, with its production focused entirely on Chardonnay from Bourgogne, village and Premier Cru appellations. Les Champs Gains is situated high on the slope, immediately above the renowned Premier Cru Les Folatières. This elevated position contributes to the vineyard’s refined, mineral-driven character and naturally composed structure. The estate records an average vine age of approximately 36 years for this cuvée.
Following vinification, the wine spends eleven months in oak barrels before undergoing a further seven months of maturation in stainless-steel tanks. Approximately 25–30% new barrels are employed, bringing measured toast and textural definition without overwhelming the wine’s vineyard expression. The domaine characterises Les Champs Gains through its finesse, elegance, toasted nuances and pronounced minerality. Its fruit and floral elements are supported by a supple texture, restrained spice and a precise mineral backbone. The extended period in stainless steel helps restore freshness and clarity following barrel maturation. The result is a composed Premier Cru that balances gentle richness with the refined tension associated with Puligny-Montrachet. The producer indicates an ageing potential of approximately seven to eight years. It is particularly well suited to shellfish, white fish, poultry and delicately prepared white-meat dishes.
