With their exceptional vineyard holdings, which include nearly 8 hectares of Grand Cru out of Chablis' total 92 hectares, this small yet remarkable estate has quickly established itself as one of the leading producers of Chablis, consistently crafting outstanding wines. While their holdings in Petit, village and 1er cru Chablis are relatively small, the true highlights lie in their range of Grand Cru vineyards. They possess a single holding of approximately 3 hectares in Les Clos, along with 41 hectares in Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos, as well as smaller holdings in Valmur, Blanchots and Vaudesir. The little valley between two other grand crus (Les Clos and Vaudesir), Valmur is definitely a terroir mainly composed of clays. Our two parcels benefit from two exposures: 70 acres southeast and 30 acres northeast (1 ha in total). Our vines are more than 60 years old. They produce a very full-bodied and powerful wine. Overall, there is very good freshness and verve to the wines plus they have a certain tenderness that the bigger and more robust 2019s don't have. They should be approachable on the younger side, but the balance is so good that they should age well too.
Once again there is an admirably discreet wood influence hovering in the background of the essence of pear, green fruit, seashore, and saltwater brine aromas. There is outstanding intensity to the muscular, powerful, and more concentrated big-bodied flavours that conclude in a super-sleek, clean and bone-dry finale that delivers sneaky good length as the finish terminates and then re-emerges.
