An elegant assemblage with a firm, silky structure and appealing salinity. Fruity, floral and spicy, this rosé champagne has an underlying freshness and acidity that gives it a compelling vibrancy. The radiant pinot noir grape gives Dom Pérignon rosé its rich, fruity tones and magnetic energy. After a grey and overcast spring and summer, 2008 finally came good in the vineyards with a glorious September that gave all the grapes time to ripen beautifully. Their maturity surpassed all expectations, revealing exceptional high-toned balance, with fruit in impeccable health.

      Dom Pérignon

In 1668, Dom Pierre Pérignon was appointed procurator at the Abbey of Hautvillers, and for the next 47 years he pursued a single, uncompromising ambition: to make the best wine in the world. Three centuries on, Maison Dom Pérignon continues that pursuit, guided not by trend or technique but by a constant search for harmony.

Every Dom Pérignon release answers to the same constraint: the vintage itself. The House exists to bear witness to a single year's harvest, whatever that year brings, even when the honest answer is not to declare a vintage at all. Every wine is an assemblage, built on timeless principles that take precedence over any winemaking fashion. And every wine spends its formative years in the dark, ageing slowly on lees, where precision, intensity, minerality and complexity are allowed to develop on their own timeline.

Dom Pierre Pérignon's own legacy is often reduced to myth, credited with inventing Champagne outright or, more strangely, remembered as a blind monk. Neither is true. What is true is the scale of his innovation: a gentler press that could draw clear, still white wine from black grapes; an early understanding of Champagne's marginal climate and the value of blending across vineyards; stronger English glass bottles built to survive pressure; and the reintroduction of cork as a dependable seal. Between them, these advances didn't just shape Champagne. They shaped the modern wine world.

      Tasting notes

      NOSE
      Raspberry, Persistent, Leafy-Greens

A bouquet of raspberries and wild strawberries to start, joined quickly by powdery and persistent notes of iris and violet. Leafy-green nuances follow – privet, angelica and camphor.

      PALATE
      Full-bodied, Vibrant, Peppery

Full-bodied and silky, with a luxurious texture. The initial sensations are tactile and enveloping, with flavours of red fruits intertwining with a vibrant acidity. A touch of white pepper adds a spicy kick to the finish.

      FINISH
      Long, Red Fruits, Refreshing

Long and lingering, with the red fruit flavours complemented by hints of peony and white pepper. The wine's minerality provides a refreshing counterpoint.
