Daniel Bouland’s Morgon Corcelette 2023 is a beautiful expression of the terroir from one of Beaujolais’ most renowned vignerons. Sourced from the sandy and granitic soils of Corcelette, this wine displays a more delicate, red-fruited, and floral profile than others from Morgon’s schist-influenced terroirs. With an average vine age of 60 years (still considered “young” by Bouland’s standards), the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented using indigenous yeasts, with whole bunches to enhance complexity. The result is a wine with vibrant aromatics, depth, and a savoury finish, offering exceptional freshness and a long, smoky, mineral finish.

A fantastic start to Bouland’s 2023 Corcelette cuvées, this wine showcases both youthful vibrancy and the concentration of a great vintage, with enough structure to cellar for 3-5 years or longer.

      Tasting notes

      NOSE
      Red Berries, Floral, Spice

The nose is expressive with aromas of red berries, including raspberry and cherry, layered with subtle floral notes of violets and a touch of savoury spice. There’s a light, aromatic complexity that hints at the purity of the vintage.

      PALATE
      Vibrant, Silky, Mineral

The palate is rich yet vibrant, showcasing layers of ripe red fruit, earthy spice, and a fine minerality that’s typical of the terroir. The wine has a silky texture with smooth tannins and a balanced acidity that carries the flavours seamlessly through the mouth.

      FINISH
      Long, Smoky, Fresh

The finish is long and refreshing, with a touch of smokiness and mineral depth. The bright fruit character lingers, complemented by a slight tannic grip, making this a wine that evolves beautifully with time in the glass.
