For those who haven't attended, allow us to paint a picture of festivities. During Día de Muertos, you'll experience a sea of unmistakable aromas fills the streets and homes in Mexican towns and cities. For instance, ofrendas are adorned with copal, exquisite dishes and cempasúchil flowers, meanwhile local markets overflow with fruits, spices and sweets that give off fragrances that fill the air and awaken the senses. The result is an enveloping atmosphere that leaves an indelible mark on one’s memory; an aromatic landscape that anyone could recognise with eyes closed.
This exquisite decanter visually captures the experience with Cempasúchil blossom with a marigold glaze that darkens towards the base. This stunning illustration by Mexican artist Jimena Estíbaliz, depicts a dreamlike scene of cempasúchil flower harvest, accompanied by xoloitzcuintles the indigenous and much loved canine of Mexico. The finishing touch is a handcrafted 24-karat gold ornament with a fine patina finish.
On the inside, is aged añejo tequila crafted by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco. The journey begins with 100% Blue Agave, produced at one of the highest points in the state of Jalisco. Its climate and land properties offer a characteristic tequila flavour. Each of the agaves is grown for 6 to 8 years before harvest. Organic agave requires approximately 72 hours of cooking in old masonry ovens. The baking gives the agave core a unique sweetness – easily perceived by the complexity of aroma and flavours. Lastly and importantly it is aged for 25 months in American whiskey casks and finished in Armagnac casks. It shows notes of peach, pear, raisin, candied walnut, toasted wood, clove, and tasting of peach, walnut, clove, and cacao, finishing with cacao and cinnamon.
