Château St. Georges Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion 2018 375ml
With just a mere 5 hectare estate, the Chateau St Georges St Emilion is one of the best value wines in Bordeaux. The estate has changed hands several times since the French Revolution until it was bought by Petrus Desbois in 1891, to be used as his summer residence. Since then it has remained a private family home and vineyard, carefully nurtured by each generation.
The 2016 Château Saint Georges has a straight forward but attractive smoke and cigar box tinged bouquet with ample black fruit. The palate is medium bodied with sappy black fruit, well integrated oak, well judged acidity and a poised and elegant finish. What a delicious Château Saint Georges this should be, one that should give a decade of pleasure once in bottle. - Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate, on the 2016 vintage
