Chateau D’Esclans Garrus Rosé 2021

Chateau d’Esclans is situated in the heart of Provence, northeast of St. Tropez. With his acquisition of the Château in 2006, Sacha Lichine’s vision was to create the greatest rosés in the world, igniting the “Rosé Renaissance”. Château d’Esclans is home to Whispering Angel which is made from grapes sourced from amongst the most choice Vineyards in the vicinity of the Esclans Valley and nearby in the Cotes de Provence region. Harvesting is only conducted during at night time to avoid the heat of the day & to keep the crop of grapes fresh. Upon arriving in the Cellars, grapes are sorted for both health and quality ensuring that the selected grapes are assessed accurately in terms of overall quality. 

The powerful and elegant Garrus was at the heart to Sacha Lichine’s vision in 2006 to make rosé grand. Today Garrus is firmly established as a world class, iconic luxury rosé.

Garrus is made from grapes exclusively from the Vineyards of Chateau d’Esclans, a high concentration of which come from a single parcel of nearly 100 year old Grenache Vines. Harvesting is conducted in the morning to help to avoid the heat of the day & to keep the crop fresh. Soft Crushing is followed by temperature reduction to lock in freshness and vivacity. Closed circuit pressing is conducted producing free run juice which is vinified exclusively in 600 litre temperature controlled new French oak barrels (Demi Muids) during which Battonage is conducted twice weekly over an eleven month period prior to bottling.

Concentrated aromas and flavours of dried citrus, peaches and passion fruit give this rosé a powerful nose. A bright acidity with glazed pear and pineapple filling the mid palate. Garrus’ toasty notes are reminiscent of a vintage Champagne without the bubbles. The finish is long with a creamy finish that features rich, spicy notes. Powerful and elegant.

Château d’Esclans’s premium cuvée, the 2021 Cotes de Provence Rose Garrus, which was matured in French new oak, bursts from the glass with aromas of pear, grapefruit, vanilla, spices, lime, red berries and thyme flowers. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textured, ripe and round, it’s built around racy acids and a seamless palate. This vintage can be approached with pleasure even if it has 3-5 years of evolution ahead of it. - Robert Parker's Wine advocate.
