Château Chasse-Spleen is one of the most prominent estate in Moulis. Despite being only a Cru Bourgeois, it frequently exceeds many of the more well-known classed growths from the Médoc. There are two explanations for the château's somewhat unique moniker. The first is that Lord Byron said, "Quel remède pour chasser le spleen," during a visit to the estate in 1821. Second, that Spleen, a poem by Charles Baudelaire, inspired its name.
The 2010 vintage from Château Chasse-Spleen has a dark garnet-red colour, unclouded and bright. Aromas of fresh roses, cherry, pencil. Freshness. Sapwood with hints of vanilla. Silky structure around a fine, enveloping and powerful grain. Great persistence.
