Low yields, high clarity—Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with precision and punch.

The 2024 release from Catalina Sounds is the payoff of a dramatic growing season—low yields, pristine fruit, and Marlborough’s driest summer in nearly a century. With just a sprint of a harvest in March, winemaker Peter Jackson captured the best of each site across Waihopai and the Southern Valleys, delivering a Sauvignon Blanc that’s both sharply defined and texturally rewarding.

This vintage leans into its place—cool nights, mineral-rich soils, and hand-tended blocks, many farmed by long-term grower partners. The result is a wine that hums with preserved lemon, candy apple, wet stone and stone fruit, while a saline thread and lees contact bring depth and line. It’s mouthwatering, modern Marlborough at its finest—clean, bright and built for food.

Drink now or over the next three years. Best matched with seafood, herbs, or hard cheeses.

Tangy, vibrant wine with passionfruit, guava, capsicum and gooseberry flavours... punchy, textural Sauvignon Blanc with appealing purity.

Bright, fresh, crisp and crunchy... green apple and gooseberry, peach and a light wet stone quality... balanced and well made.

      — Cameron Douglas MS, The Shout, 93 Points

A brilliant wine that is a benchmark for its type... lasting appeal and shows great balance, complexity and intensity.

      Catalina Sounds

Catalina Sounds was founded in 2005 with the aim of producing wines that reflect Marlborough’s distinct landscape while carrying an extra layer of textural depth. The name honours the Catalina flying boats once seen across the Marlborough Sounds, an enduring symbol of connection to the region’s history.

From its base in the Waihopai Valley, the estate works across carefully selected vineyard sites to craft a focused portfolio. While Sauvignon Blanc remains central to the story, Catalina Sounds has steadily expanded into Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, alongside the Sound of White single-vineyard range and sister label Crowded House. Each wine is shaped by the same attention to detail, authenticity and sense of place.
