Bruichladdich's Islay barley series has always been a mission for them. Throughout the years, they have sought to showcase the the phenomenon of terroir in single malt whisky. The believe climate, micro-climate, soil, geographic orientation, local weather systems, and natural influences can and will influence the flavour profile and quality of their spirit. The 2012 release of their Unpeated Islay Barley Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced from barley grown from eight central and western Islay farms in 2011.
This whisky was matured 75% full term in first fill American whisky casks and 25% French wine casks for a minimum time of 8 years and bottled at a cask strength of 50%
